Hot Girl Restoration

Updated: Dec 29, 2021

An ode to recovering from doing the most

I took this summer to make up for all the missed hot girl moments of Summer 2020. From trips to days on somebody’s boat, this summer has made up for some much-needed fun.

Come early July, I was sniffly and struggly, too busy brunching, and forgot to focus on restoration. In case you are also living in your “hotgirlness” this summer, I wanted to share a few little things I've brought back to stay healthy and restored.

Supplements

In a perfect world, the food we eat would give us all the nutrients we need. None of us are perfect- we have our days of eating foods that don’t have the highest nutritional value.

As we head into flu season, on top of the pandemic, our bodies are still fighting to keep healthy. I know you all are on top of your daily vitamin C, so I won’t spend much time there, but I would also encourage speaking to your primary care doctor about a multivitamin to help in any areas where you may be nutrient deficient.

Please! Always remember to check the back of your package. Vitamins, especially the ones marketed for kiddos, tend to have very high sugar content called by multiple names (sugar, fructose, corn syrup), and many vitamins have a lot of artificial ingredients in including cornstarch, lactose (dairy derivative), vegetable oil, and corn oil.

Where you can, I’d recommend choosing organic, vegetarian, if not vegan (no dairy derivatives), no gluten, no sugar, no starch, no artificial color or flavor. They are sneaking a lot of stuff into vitamins, so please check the back, especially during these times when you may be taking supplements more frequently.

Sea Moss

Sea moss has grown in popularity for its holistic nutritional value. Did you know that our bodies consist of 102 minerals? Sea moss is believed to have 92 of these nutrients- a true superfood. It is most commonly known for boosting immunity, improving digestion, and skin health through additional hydration.

You can add a tablespoon in smoothies and oats. Soups and pasta are other good options to blend with your sea moss gel. I'd recommend smaller batches, stored in the fridge, as it is best used within 7-10 days.

Smoothies

Starting the day with a smoothie is a good way to replenish the nutrients in your body, but I love to start the day with a smoothie full of veggies and fruits. I usually enjoy a leafy green like spinach and kale, melons, mango, or pineapple. Check out some of my other favorites.
